Memorable week, beautiful property run by exceptional host, great Dubrovnik location.

Location was excellent for old city, beaches & supermarkets. Accommodation was spotless! Had character. Very homely. The kitchen was modern with fridge, kettle, mini dishwasher etc. Air conditioning most welcome! Fabulous balcony views over the bay. Beautiful bathroom with lots of extras and 2 large bedrooms with king size beds & crisp white linen. Plenty of storage. Hostess was exceptionally accommodating; couldn't do enough to help. Welcome wine & beer on arrival, chocolates on leaving. Arranged airport taxis for us. We were met and shown round on arrival & given they keys, and our luggage taken up to our apartment.

Fine for us, but the property would not suit anyone with mobility issues as there are lots of steps up to and around the apartment. A minor detail - Kitchen would benefit from more plates, cups & cutlery to make using the dishwasher more economical.

Fabulous apartment in a beautiful setting

Everything! Very large bedrooms, beautiful villa, high ceilings, lots of original features, comfy beds, air con, satellite tv. Hosts are friendly and helpful. Balconies with stunning sea views of Lokrum Island and old town in distance. Didn’t want to leave!

Really nothing, a minor consideration for perhaps a family who might prefer to cook is small kitchen facilities but for couples and those who prefer to eat out no problem at all.

Very pleasant apartment and lovely host(ess)

The location was good, just 600m from the Old Town. Lovely Host(ess) who could not be more pleasant, friendly and helpful. Good sized apartment which was nicely decorated, furnished and air conditioned. Views to the sea and access to beaches (downhill) Nice place to stay and I would stay there again myself and recommend to others

Rather narrow road without pavement for first 300m of walk to Old Town.

What would you highlight about Villa Matilda

A magical 2 week stay

The location was perfect. With views of the Adriatic and of Lokrum Island it was wonderful. The apartment was spacious, very clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. It was very secure and peaceful and with a 10 -15 min walk into the old walled down it allowed us sanctuary from the hub ub of the town. A beach and a swimming area was within a 5 minute walk , a small shop a little further and any number of wonderful restaurants were within the Walls. Out host was delightful- she gave us so much help and advice to enhance the experience as well as a couple of lifts into the town and would regularly bring us local foods/ wine to sample. What a special lady!

There wasn't anything to dislike. We loved everything about Villa Matilda

Beautiful Villa with stunning views & gracious host 10/10

We loved our stay at Villa Matilda for 8 night in mid-June 2023, it made a very memorable experience for our 50th birthday celebrations in spring. We stayed in the charming and stylish two-bedroom apartment, which takes up the whole top floor of the Villa, with beautiful sea views over the sea, Lokrum Island, Dubrovnik old town and the local neighbourhood of Ploce. You hear the church bells ringing and the swallows chirping from the two balconies. We received a warm welcome from our gracious host, Maja, who continued to be available throughout our stay with tips on where to eat (incl. vegetarian options), places to visit and so on. She organised our taxi pick up and drop off to the airport in a nice vehicle. She was also just a genuinely lovely person and we enjoyed our chats with her. The property is within short walking distance of Sveti Jakov (St Jacob’s) beach, which is stunning and absolutely recommended for a day by the sea, there are simple beach chairs and parasols as well as a shaded cafe serving simple food and drinks. There is another more rocky beach nearby as well that seemed mostly used by locals. Villa Matilda is ideally located for trips around the old town and further afield. Uber picks up and drops off here, there are also local metered taxis (make sure there is a number next to the taxi sign on top). We would love to visit this charming and stylish holiday apartment again.

The kitchen is small but perfectly formed, with a lovely outdoors terrace functioning as a dining area. There is also a small dining table inside. The kitchen is not really set up for cooking bigger meals, space is constrained, but it is perfectly adequate for preparing a nice breakfast and simple cooked dishes. There are some 30 steps from the road leading up to the property, this may be an issue if you have mobility issues, but for Dubrovnik standards this isn’t much and it wasn’t an issue for us.

Exceptional

Everything was perfect; I enjoyed my stay thoroughly and only wish I could've stayed longer. The host, location, and apartment all exceeded my expectations. Dubrovnik is an expensive city to visit, especially last minute and during the summer but the experience made spending the money totally worth it. I was greeted by the host with fresh figs, a chilled bottle of Croatian white wine, a cold bottle of water and all the things to make a fresh gin and tonic. I would love to come again!

Best holiday ever

Where to begin. The views of the villa are to die for - you have panoramic views of the sea and can see old town and Locrum island from both balconies. The location is perfect - you're a less than 15-minute walk to old town and a 5-minute walk to two beautifully hidden beaches. The rooms are big, air conditioned and beautifully decorated, akin to what you would see at a 5-star hotel. That said, our favourite part of the villa was the host - Maja was a delight. She made us feel at home from the very first moment we stepped into her villa, offering us ice-cream and wine. She gave us advice on where to go and what to eat. She is an absolute gem!

Villa Matilda is in a perfect location! A nice walk to Old City. beautiful views from the terraces. spacious living areas. kitchen had all the necessaries. The owners are wonderful and greet upon arrival.

Fantastic

Our wonderful host Maya greeted us with tea and fresh fruit. She showed us around the apartment which had two balconies - was lovely to sit out and relax with a glass of wine after a day/evening out in the Old Town. The bathroom was beautiful and spacious and we could not fault the apartment or host. The house was lovely with a stunning garden. Everything perfect.
